I'd be surprised if anyone else in here likes this particular wowlbum?
quote:The Swedish forest-dwelling folk visionaries know as Fredrik have just released their second album...Trilogi. Following their critically acclaimed debut Na Na Ni from 2008, Trilogi is a more consistently inward-looking affair and takes on themes like social realities and subconscious geography. Yeah, I don't know either. The melodies are more serpentine and the textures decidedly darker. However, Fredrik's warm, sensitive lead voice and operatic choir work still lends the material the same comforting elegance as on the debut.
Trilogi is a compilation of highly limited 3" EPs released in their home country in hand-made origami packaging. The EP's bore the titles "Holm", "Ava" and "Ner", all fictional names roughly signifying "Frozen Forest Island", "Water Through Sound" and "The Inside Underground". Together they represent a trilogy of contemporary viewpoints of the Lovecraftian dream passage - orientation at great cost and understanding at the risk of sanity.
Fredrik is like something out of a dream and they'll haunt your soul until you submit to their haunting whims. It's worth it because the tunes are absolutely beautiful and are the perfect soundtrack for the dead center of winter

Blind Pilot - 3 Rounds and a Sound
Hi Pat
I love that album, but am ready for a new one as well. They played several new songs at the show in December and something to look forward to.
If you purchase downloads, at amazon search The Bench Connection, if you like BP, BC is similar and every bit as good. Only available as a download I believe unless you find a used one.
regards
Jeff A
Hi Jeff,
I am ready for a new album from them as well.
Thank you for the recommendation; I will check out The Bench Connection.
Reminds me, need to send you an email.
Regards,
Pat

I am a big Kenny Barron fan though - he is an awesome pianist and maybe I should play some of his albums over the next few days.
I will check out Sphere.
Sphere was originally on Elektra Musician - a wonderful jazz label headed by Bruce Lundvall, who I believe currently/recently was head of Blue Note. I would recommend anything you can find on Elektra Musician - sadly, little if any of it has been transferred to cd in my hunting. Freddie Hubbard, Eric Gale, Chick Corea and many others made wonderful releases in the EM catalogue.

While my wife went to the gym, I walked baby Roamn in his off-road buggy. On the headphones I caught up with my rap listening.
Dilla - Jay Stay Paid (particularly 24K Rap with Havoc and Raekwon)
Raekwon - Only Built for Cuban Linx...2
Strong Arm Steady - In Search of Stoney Jackson (production by Madlib)
I enjoyed it - and Roman slept through it!

Pay notice to Gabriel Gordon's contributions on backing vocals and guitar - the show wouldn't be the same without him. Unfortunately his own releases haven't lived up to that level, but what a touring partner.

He was playing guitar when I saw Natalie late last year. He did a good job helping her out with some lyrics (that she kept forgetting)

I believe he is on the Merchant disc you are listening to (that one or the Unpluuged show Munch listens to). He has several solo releases but they are not as tasty as his work with Natalie.
Sorry for the confusion, if I am incorrect. Just me rambling.
