Gladstone's debut album 'Breaking the Colours'.

Prog-flavoured folk rock outfit from the North-East. The delightful vocalist, Ruth, has a touch of the Dolores O'Riordan's about her sound.

They do lots of live gigs around the Newcastle area.

Not really a period of Ash I like Joe. Preffered Wisefield in his original band Home.

I saw them in concert one night at the Roundhouse along with the Ramones 1st UK gig and the Stranglers. Very underrated band.

The 2 gorgeous naked lady dancers near the front were the highlight of the evening.

I like this period very much, from "There's The Rub", "New England" into "Just Testing". The thing about this album is that early ones were a double. It's very well recorded and contains my favourite versions of "Doctor", "Living Proof" and "Way Of The World". But the bonus second LP contains a simply glorious "Persephone".

I saw the line up that followed, Bolder in for Martin Turner and it was a superb gig, but the best live line-up I saw was Turner/Powell/Upton and Wisefield. Happy days.

Ultravox - Systems Of Romance. Released in 1978, their last album with John Foxx on vocals.

In the car yesterday - really enjoyed this. It has been sitting too long unplayed in my collection.
