Possibly my favourite Joe Henry album Jeff.

Hi Ewen, and Happy New Year to you.

I like Shuffletown a lot and am convinced it is the genesis of his later forays with Scar and Tiny Voices and Civilians.

I can't listen to JH all the time, it is complex music that requires focus and attention I no longer always have. But, gosh, I am not sure I have multiple selections from any other artist that hold up to the quality standard JH has set in the last 15 or 20 years - an amazing artist and body of work.

Best wishes for 2010 to you and your loved ones.

Jeff A

Thanks Jeff and a Guid New Year to all your family. I am about to play this now.

If I posted this album every time I was playing it, it would be every other post. It just sounds so good....

Listened to a few Lambchop tracks on Spotify, not for me.

So back to my more normal fare:-

Chriastian Re: Midnight Oil, certainly comes under the heading of undiscovered country.
I was surprised just how many albums they have made.
I have and enjoy Diesel and Dust & 10,9,8 etc.
More Spotifying I think.

Smile It is a bit of an acquired, eclectic taste. But you gave it a listen. I learned of them here and the album Is A Woman is what hooked me. Other albums I have are a bit variable. I do like Damaged.

Happy New Year, Howard.

Thanks for that Jeff, I won't rule out another visit, it was a very quick random listen.
I remember Is a Woman being talked about a year or two back.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

I don't know that one but in discussing it at amazon they describe Lambchop, as so:

".....unclassifiable hybrid of country, soul, jazz, and avant-garde noise seemed at one time or another to drink from every conceivable tributary of contemporary music, its baroque beauty all held together by the surreal lyrical wit and droll vocal presence of frontman Kurt Wagner."

Sounds about right to me.

Happy New Year, Oliver.

Peter Garrett is now a politician/MP in Oz and Midnight Oil have disbanded. An interesting change of career.

Nigel,

Does that include all the 555 sonatas? Honestly, is it a box-set or a crate?
