Started the evening with something soothing:

Then I had a second go at this "hard" modern jazz album - unusually challenging stuff from ECM:

Joe Maneri - Tales of Rohnlief

Still hard going, but not quite as painful as the first time round. I will try again in a month or two. After that, I needed to relax with some classic piano trio:

Which will get me to the 10 o clock "curfew".

I have tried but have not persevered with this. Tough stuff and too much other better stuff to play.

It was a comment from Steve Lake on that ECM forum you pointed me to that made me buy this. He said he'd listened to it recently and it had reminded him what a great album it was. So worth another try, I think, but it's definitely near the limit of what I'm prepared to listen to in terms of squawky tunelessness!

His vinyl is worth getting, but it does not flow so well because you have to turn it over.
Stu

Will do. I am buying CD versions as I much prefer it and as you say this music should not be interrupted. Timewind is the best so far especially the Bayreuth track.

Mitzi Meyerson, harpsichord
Marion Verbruggen, recorder

One new copy left at Amazon US for a mere $136.04. I wonder how they come up with the four extra cents on top of their outrageous asking price.
