From one great 3CD set:

To another:

The recent Evans thread prompted me to finally plug this significant gap in my collection. I heard some of this material years and years ago when I first tried (and mostly failed) to get into jazz. Hearing it again, at a time when more than half of my listening is devoted to jazz, it sounds marvellous.

Bloomin heck mate - The Newsome cd's dropped through my letter box yesterday and the first one (to start) sounds wonderful and she certainly has turned down her vocal aerobics. Bill Evan 'Vanguard' dropped through this morning, so will get an airing tonight.................... great minds and all that Smile

Lost his Celtic Groove if not his Rn'B groove.
And although nobody knows is a great song it was unfortunately played to death by a "classic!" radio station that was always on in a job I had at the time.

No better way to kill a song for someone.

must give it a listen 20 years on.

"Arcangelo Corelli was one of the most influential Italian composers of the late-Baroque Era. And his opus five sonatas, a collection for violin and basso continuo, was one of the most widely disseminated pieces of music during the 18th Century. The sonatas were greatly admired, emulated, and, most of all, frequently performed. Over the last two decades, the Harmonia Mundi label has published a number of versions of Corelli’s “op. 5,” including a wonderful and memorable recording with baroque violinist Andrew Manze and harpsichordist Richard Egarr"

I'm sure you'll enjoy both! With the Bill Evans, be aware that the first track after the vocal introduction cuts out for a few seconds(there was a brief power cut during the recording session). Before this point, there are a few clicks due where bass strings hit the fingerboard, and these sound very much like the glitches you hear on scratched CDs. I thought I had a faulty set until I "read the manual". Smile
