Good idea of Diccus. I am going to spend the next two hours in concert with the Esbjorn Svensson Trio. They did not want to release this radio broadcast as an album but they were pushed by the record company to do so - the Times voted it the best jazz album of the last decade.

Nancy Wallace - Old Stories

MySpace for samples.

Here is part of an eloquent review wot I wish I rote...

"Vocally the touchstones will be the beautiful cut glass clarity of Shirley Collins and Anne Briggs, the instrumentation delicately plucked guitars, banjos and fiddles, mournful, wheezing accordions - the perfect accompaniment to not detract from that astonishing voice. While many of today's female folk singers are insufferably twee Nancy Wallace possesses an integrity and strength of delivery that makes these tales of love, loss and dreaming totally disarming and immediately addictive."

The CD does not do justice though to seeing and hearing Nancy 'live', as I did last night supporting Emily Barker. Both artists should be seen to experience wonderful voices and great musicianship.

I must get round to reviewing the gig Roll Eyes
