Doug,
Are you after good music or just good looking girls..?

Just two albums to their credit, nevertheless, they are the contemporary jazz trio which I have been enjoying the most in recent years.

Oliver did you get to any record shops while in NYC this trip?
Stu
Trip was too short this time but I managed to go to Blue Note on Thursday night for a great live performance.

I now have this (& a few others by her) on my wishlist.
Never heard of her until I started to research who played what on the new Touch Yello album.
The search also led me to Till Bronner who plays the trumpet on there - and his albums now feature on the list as well.
A great way of finding music, and ties in nicely that Yello should lead to amazing classical and jazz.
Both have some excellent stuff on 'You Tube' Dorothee especially. a Hi Def playing of music in germany at a festival c/w period instruments, inc harpsicord is exceptional.
Till Bronner also deserves a lot more recognition - he will get it, no doubt.

Steve2701,
Interesting connections! It's funny that you would go from Touch Yello to Dorothee Oberlinger and I, having no idea who Touch Yello is, would come from Dorothee Oberlinger. I'll be putting them on my wish list now.

Haim, I'm as pragmatic as can be. Why, pray tell, can I not have both!!
Truth be told, I think you'd really enjoy any of these choices as well; (even if the usual, unscrupulous marketing techniques might be a turnoff ; )

Hi there,
yes, weird connections but often they take me on a hugely enjoyable (if expensive) journey.
Please get to listen to Touch - Yello before you do buy it - there is plenty on You Tube, it is about as polar oposite to classical as you can get. Dorothee plays on the very last track - which is where Yello meets Morocco / Egypt in musical terms - her playing is almost haunting on the track. Be prepared to have the walls re-plastered if you play it loud...
Found Takla makan for you.
