Will I "get" Bowie after all these years?
Seems not, record off TT by 2 mins into side 2.

Can I indulge in a minor controversy? Probably not the greatest technician or innovator but incredible character and freedom. Ooof!
Hardly a MINOR controversy...!
Invented Irish rock music more or less single-handedly.
The fusion of great blues and r'n'b with distinctive traditional Irish music is very innovative.
As for technical competance, he is one of the finest blues guitarists ever - viz those from the pantheon of blues who specifically wanted to play with him, eg Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters etc. And the scope of his musicianship, electric guitar, acoustic 6 and 12-string, mandolin and saxophone.
No, not a MINOR controversy at all!

There should be more, especially those that like their Porcupine Tree. The Ghost Reveries album I just played was most enjoyable.

My Bowie collection does not get much airplay these days so I may try a few this weekend.

I find "Reverie/Harlequin Forest" to be one of the most stunning Opeth tune.

Johann Sebastian Bach: Cantatas. Karl Richter, Münchener Bach-Orchester, Münchener Bach-Chor
Spending a good deal of last week and this week coming listening to this set of 13 Cantatas and then comparing mainly with the Masaaki Suzuki sets I recently started collecting as well as others that I have (Gardiner, Herreweghe...). Very inspiring! I am also listening to myself learn (actually relearn) a Liszt transcription of "Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen" on the piano which has sadly sat on the shelf now for a number of years. It's like meeting up with an old friend...
Cantata No. 92, "Ich hab in Gottes Herz und Sinn," BWV 92
Cantata No. 126, "Erhalt uns, Herr, bei deinem Wort," BWV 126
Cantata No. 23, "Du wahrer Gott und Davids Sohn," BWV 23
Cantata No. 1, "Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern, BWV 1
Cantata No. 182, "Himmelskönig, sei willkommen," BWV 182
Cantata No. 4, "Christ lag in Todesbanden," BWV 4
Cantata No. 6 "Bleib bei uns, denn es will Abend werden," BWV 6
Cantata No. 158, "Der Friede sei mit dir," BWV 158
Cantata No. 67, "Halt im Gedächtnis Jesum Christ," BWV 67
Cantata No. 104, "Du Hirte Israel, höre," BWV 104
Cantata No. 12 "Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen", BWV 12
Cantata No. 108, "Es ist euch gut, dass ich hingehe," BWV 108
Cantata No. 87, "Bisher habt ihr nichts gebeten," BWV 87
