Dean..

It was one of my first ECMs, must have bought it back in the days.

Gordon,

I've been thinking of expanding the European Jazz/Fusion side of my collection for ages and wanted to start with Eberhard Weber & Pat Metheny, but money and the fact I've bought quite a few other things that I had my eye on first so it'll have to wait. Got to listen to what I've bought before getting anymore it'll get silly otherwise.

Any distortion on her "big" notes? Sounds like slight mis-tracking , but could be mike overload.

Oliver, that is the one you have posted which made me aware of this duo. The new one is very very good to my ear. I will add "A Book..." to my list. Thanks.

I think both Oliver and I were introduced to this album by Davohorn when we were doing some music listening sessions down in Sydney. They are a local band there but somehow I never managed to see them.

I knew I had seen the new one somewhere Smile

Got it yesterday and love it.

I like A & J, Temper Trap, Darren Hayes (Savage Garden), Keith Urban, Kasey Chambers, etc - all I believe from down under. Other recommends ?

I highly recommend as well the album Angus brought out with his band.

My most exciting discovery of the last 3-4 months. Very tuneful without being trivial. Check it out, Haim, Huw, Nigel and Adrian !

cheers

I always liked Darren Hayes and I am pleased to see him doing well.

This is a most amazing album. He is blind, he plays guitar (with a string missing) and sings like a choir of angels. He is from an island off Northern Oz. I remember buying this from my local record store in Oz and will always remind me of sitting in my sunny listening room in amongst the gum trees.

Of all the reissues to date of the Jefferson Airplane's classic catalog, the 2003-vintage expanded version of After Bathing at Baxter's is the most rewarding. The most ambitious album ever recorded by the band, and one of the finest psychedelic albums ever released, the reissue enhances its value, not only with a better transfer than the 1996-vintage upgrade, but some highly significant bonus tracks. First and foremost, and one of the great bonus cuts to have turned up to date in the entire CD era, is the live, long version of "The Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil," 11-plus minutes of some of the best psychedelic music ever committed to tape by anyone, and significantly different from the four-and-half-minute studio version finally used; this track by itself is worth the price of the CD. - Bruce Eder, All Music Guide

Bathing is still one JA album I have to get.

Now if you want some real Oz, a bit of John Williamson could be your man. The Vasectomy Song is my fave Eek , but also Home Amongst the Gum Trees, True Blue (Steve Irwin memorial) - he is a bit of a legend down under
