note to Ewen and Pat K, this might be something you each would like. Instrumentation is accordion, acoustic guitar, dobro, upright bass and violin. Includes three members of the Decemberists and two other Portland notables.
samples
Hadn't come across them Jeff but the samples I am listening to on Amazon US sound excellent.
Thanks Jeff. New to me as well. I will be sure to check it out.

I thought I had read only mediocre and mixed reviews of this when it came out. I checked again over the weekend and suddenly started finding 4/5 star jobbies so I bought the CD. Glad I did as I am really enjoying it - love the Bass. Going to try and shake the foundations later

Adrian,
When I play the Guy Garvey track Flat of the Blade, I worry that the bass drivers are are working loose

Heresy on here lately I know, but the vinyl is a work of art. And you get a black sparkly CD

I did see a vinyl copy yesterday but was not sure then whether I wanted the album or not. Bought the CD today and will probably get the vinyl when I bump into it again.
