Stu,

Hille Perl is a Stefan's discovery so any credit goes to him. I am sure that you will enjoy her playing.

Nice. Not heard this one yet. How is it?

Hard to say. It's not my usual cup of tea but I quite like it though I can't see it being played often at Chez Voltaire (if again). For me there is a little bit to much brass which is my personal taste and should not put you off.

The album as a whole has a kind of disjointed fluidity to it which hovers just short of parody. If that was the intent then it's spot on! Worth a listen for the individuals but I'm not 100% convinced about the album as a whole.

Thanks - that's all I need to know - not for me. Like you I am not a fan of large deployments of brass in jazz.

There are a few very good DD albums on Spotify - Strange Liberation, The Infinite and Charms of the Night Sky that you might prefer.

Cheers

I am taking advantage of another day off due to snow and finally cataloging my ECM into Music Collector.

Jim, maybe you should start with a more recent one and see if you like her.

Just finishing the last few tracks after a stroll into Crawley,iTunes has run into Feast of Wire now, which I prefer mainly because it was their first album I bought.
