I have a aversion to anything Sasha I'm afraid.
Even when he first started out dj-ing? How so?
All the way from 1992, and his first release of his own stuff: BM:Ex - Appolonia. Classic tune.
I was in Liverpool when that came out - had quite a few good nights out (to say the least, lol).
Ah! yes I know that one did not realise it was Sasha, great tune but most of his other stuff I've heard is rather formatted for me, a one trick pony and I also associate him with the rise of the Superstar DJ and the decline of great music in clubs and that for me is utter bollocks, music maketh the DJ not the other way around.
Grumpy old Acid Head!

I've played that BM:Ex track about four times now thanks to your prog post. Ha ha.
End of the day, Sasha was a really good dj, who I could easily get all sentimental about - he probably still is, but in a different way - one of the first to dj with a Mac and Ableton Live, I think. He definitely started the superstar dj thing (my gf had a crush on him!) because he was more marketable than legends like Derrick May, and here, Graeme Park.
You're right about a decline, but it was the lad dj thing that followed, pish like Fatboy Slim, that probably caused it. You can't blame Sasha for that. Even now, there's a fair few more recent albums (Telefon Tel Aviv, Grand National, Thom Yorke, Ulrich Schnauss) I've bought after hearing his remixes. And with djs like Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos, things have picked up again.
So, for now, slowing it down...

From the above, Monday - Paracetomol. In case you don't know it, that album is a bit special.

La Bottine Souriante - Anthologie
I was only introduced to this Quebecois folk group a couple of days ago. This best-of album is great toe-tapping stuff. There's a bit of everything thrown into the melange: voyageur canoeing chants, scottish jigs and reels, arcadian (cajun) tangy-ness, french accordion. It's a manifestation of the history of Quebec. Great stuff. The occassionally misplaced sax and latin tinges are the only down points for me.
The friend who told me about them says the get occasional airplay on BBC radio, so I'd guess quite a few of you know them already.
