smooth jazz... Winker

I have been distracted by a thread on another forum and just had to listen to the track Gloomy Sunday on this album..

quote:
Sunday is Gloomy,
My hours are slumberless,
Dearest the shadows
I live with are numberless
Little white flowers will
never awaken you
Not where the black coach
of sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thought of
ever returning you
Would they be angry
if I thought of joining you
Gloomy Sunday!

Sunday is gloomy
with shadows I spend it all
My heart and I have
decided to end it all
Soon there'll be candles
and prayers that are said,
I know, but let them not weep,
let them know
that I'm glad to go

Death is no dream,
for in death I'm caressing you
With the last breath of my
soul I'll be blessing you

as close as you would want to go to smooth without being smooth. done with style, a very good album, all IMHO.

So far, so good. Slightly nervous that someone sings on track 9.

I know what you mean - I am never a fan of female vocals on albums like this but I think you'll get through it unscathed.

For me the unsung heroes of the Trip-Hop genre, they go darker than Massive Attack and have more soul than Portishead, well for me anyway, this is my favorite album from that era.
