Gordon,
thanks for the recommendation - I will look into it.
Cheers ... Oliver
You won't be dissapointed Oliver. Sam Baker is uniquely soulful and the albums are beautifully recorded.

I found a UK source as all US imports will be hopelessly back logged. Will give you my thoughts once they get here.

I seem to have regressed 40 years. Windows open, volume cranked up a notch or two and it still sounds as fresh as when I first heard it all those years ago

Here is the tail end of the disc's review by Thomas Conrad who gave it ***** for performance and **** for sonics.
"Finally, there is Francis Poulenc's Improvisations 13 in A Minor, and it must be the piece to which the album's title refers. Bodilsen takes the lead, which frees Bollani to improvise in ever-widening concentric circles from the "stone in the water" Poulenc's melody.
But perhaps the imagery of the title is everywhere. Every song begins with a melodic event like a subtle disturbance in quiet water that is then carried outward and outward, until its wave subside into silence."
I thought that it was quite a good piece of writing.

Great clip, those were the days. These Living Stereos are still some of the finest Classical recordings ever made.

After going through the whole Ring (Solti) earlier in the year I'm having a little Wagner sabbatical.

This marks the end of my Wagner sabbatical - prompted by hearing the wonderful Anna Russell giving her synopsis of The Ring.

Gordon you should have a listen to Jeffrey Foucault (especially his first- which in my eyes is a fabulous debut) if you like Sam Baker and also Danny Schmidt. I could recommend about another dozen or so in the same genre but let you listen to them first to see what you think.
Foucault is also married to Kris Delmhorst another artist worth giving a listen to.
