I'll join you with my first and still favourite Ben Webster recording - on CD.

I have two schools of thought regarding genre crossing music...

1/. The artist is so unique as to defy classification in which case they deserve to be supported and encouraged.

2/. The artist doesn't know who they are or what are they trying to achieve in which case the record label stick the word 'fusion' in somewhere and reviewers invent a new genre (in this case the oxymoron LoTech Techno {BBC}).

Unusually for me I am not able to give an opinion as to which camp this falls in. I can only advise try before you buy and if you figure out if this is a 'good' album or not please let me know cause I'm stumped.

Nice to see some Ben Webster being played. He was one of the first jazz musicans I was utterly enthralled by as a teenager. I used to think that jazz couldn't get any better..than I discovered his duets with Coleman Hawkins, Oscar Peterson, Art Tatum and Gerry Mulligan.

Smile !

Be sure to bring some time and willingness to engage with that music with you. That decides between "skip" and "stay". For me it's about bringing down the speed. you know what I've done, the last hour Winker

cheers
