Picked this up yesterday in my local second hand record shop £3.99. I must say I've been quite impressed. I knew nothing of Peter Malick or his group and bought it on the strength of it being in the Jazz and Blues section and clearly early(ish)recorded Norah Jones.
Jones sings all songs and if I were to comment on her voice I would have to say that she can indeed sing the blues and this album is closer to the sound of her newest release (the fall?), based on the couple of tracks from it that I've caught on the radio. All in all at 4 quid, a happy purchase.
Could find nothing much on All music guide about this album / band. Anyone know anything?
Charlie.

Don't know much about it, but the album is available for purchase/download in full quality at hdtracks.com - as is a remixed version of it. I enjoyed it as a overdue??? change from her three good, but by the time 'Not too late' came, rather boring albums. Like the 'The Fall', its much more guitar driven. Although I would say that 'The Fall' leans more towards the organic indie pop/rock sound and it is IMO also vastly more refined. Anyway, for those like Ms. Jones, I'd say NYC feat. N. Jones is a must-have even though it might be among her best work - and its good sounding too Smile

On of my all time favorite Jazz recordings now available in an audiophile remastering. I'm listening to this recording for 25 years now and hear details I've never heard before.

These are great times for Jazz lovers. Smile

Hope it wil improve.

I will keep an eye out for you, this is not one of the cheapo albums out there but sometimes you can get a very good deal.
