I will keep an eye out for you, this is not one of the cheapo albums out there but sometimes you can get a very good deal.

Cheers Oliver, i didn't think it would be! Roll Eyes Worth it though!

There are a few on ebay - the cheapest £50. I would save your money. The disc you have is highly regarded - you are unlikely to hear much difference if just listening - you might notice a difference in an a/b situation but how often do you do that. There are pressings worth buying because they are superior remasters but when you already have such a good one I question it.

Oliver is coming over to mine soon, so I'll get him to bring this album over and we can shoot out DCC vs Perceptions Smile

One thing I would add. Often there are differences in remasterings - they are not always better, they are often different flavours instead, accentuating slightly different aspects of the music but both being good in their own way.

Where there is a poor remastering you will notice a difference but if you already have a good remaster, then any other remaster is normally of the different flavour variety. Controversial maybe but my opinion.

I recently did a shoot out on the Hoffman remastered Lee Morgan £30 SACD vs the £5 Rudy Van Gelder version. They were different flavours and I ended up preferring the £5 version.

Thank you Lontano. I must say i am very happy with the perception box set and would recommend it to any Doors fan. i'd be really interested in the shoot out, but then again your system and Oivers is far superior to mine and may show up the slight differences.... If i'm flush one month i may just treat myself.

My Jarrett collection has grown quickly this year, so I have to ask: will this compilation do for his Atlantic years?

Bonus question: what are his Impulse years like? Just spotted a couple of box sets covering this period.

This pulls stuff (Atlantic Years) from 5 albums. If it were me, I would take my time and buy those 5 (they are not that expensive). I just prefer the real deal, as the artist intended, as opposed to a compilation. This disc get you 22 tracks out of about 37/8 tracks.

I like impulse years. All good stuff - again, I have all the individual albums but the impulse box sets look complete so they are fine. I just like the individual album covers. Got these from Japan. They look expensive now so impulse box sets are probably way to go.

PS - i prefer ecm jarrett to either atlantic or impulse so my preference would be to buy those first.

Warpoint - 'Exquisite Corpse'

factmagazine.co.uk reviewed it and said it was a perfect companion piece to the xx album. Sounding pretty good so far. Hope whoever was looking for similar stuff to the XX reads this post - I recommended Salem before, and stand by both choices.

(P.S. I've given up trying to post pix, despite reading the instructions, lol.)

Just add a forward slash / infront of the img at the end in the brackets, like so [/img]

[img]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PcosHLgfGOg/Sx9JDtSa3cI/AAAAAAAAAu8/0j9u9SB2UOQ/s400/XX-xx.jpg[img]

Copy & paste the one above and add the slash then post.

Hope this helps Smile

Maybe we should start with an unsealed version.

Eerie and beautiful with a dash of humour, on two slabs of lovely vinyl.

Hi BigH47.

I notice you have posted several Rush albums recently and i'd like to ask for your advice?

Rush are one of those bands that i've missed somehow, I think by being a tad too young and being drowned in Punk I was not allowed to like long haired bands.

Nevertheless, my 'all time favourite song that I don't hear often enough' is Spirit of Radio.

So if you could point me in the direction of an accessible Rush LP I'd be obliged.

Cheers, Paul.

The two Rush albums I like best are Permanent Waves (with Spirit of Radio) and a Farewell to Kings.

Cheers Lontano. They are on tomorrow's shopping list, Especially Permanent Waves as i seem to recall I may have been played that as a lad thirty or so years ago.

Btw, i sent you an e mail on wednesday and it was returned... is the address in your profile correct? Paul.

After work, before a dance with the snow-blower on the driveway. Total snow fall in the last day is fourteen inches and counting.
