Avatar: Music from the motion picture

Great soundtrack in my view. I especially like the fact that the chorus uses the Na'vi language Smile

Thanks Chris. Pink Floyd has had some funky album covers over the years. The one that I like is of a pig flying over a power station.

Voltaire, I used to be a big Casiopea fan in my teens. Is this album in a similar vein to their previous works?

I got some hmv vouchers the other day and bought this and a couple of other pieces of vinyl. I know the pendulum has swung toward The Bends over recent times but this is still a fabulous LP. Had a great night listening to all four sides - a few times Smile

I thought it might be a problem , but couldn't find a bigger picture.

It's title is, Beyond Words, I'm not the best at describing this style of music. It is the only one of Marks albums I've heard, and jazz isn't my strong suit. I quite like it , it stays reasonably tuneful and hasn't got too much "noodling" on it.

From what I know it has the usual type of suspects in support, Toninho Horta/Steve Khan/Bill Evans/Danny & Gordon Gottlieb etc.

It's on Spotify if you want to listen.

A Pierre Monteux evening [odd way round I know to listen by artist rather then composition/composer, but praise be to iTunes for offering any number of possibilities]:-

First the "Rite Of Spring," and then "Petrushka" from Stravinski, with the Boston Symphony Orcheatra on RCA.

Then Ravel's "Daphnis et Cloe." The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden studio recording on Decca.

And then the inequallled "Fantastic Symphony" recording from 1931 with the Paris Symphony Orcheatra! Berlioz of course!

Thanks for the information. Big Grin

Spotify is not available in this part of the world. Frown

I see 'noodling' is back on the boards again. Which of its multiple meanings are we referring to this time? Winker

Johannes Brahms: Anna Gourari (Piano)

Fantasien, Op. 116
Intermezzi, Op. 117
Klavierstücke, Op. 118
Klavierstücke, Op. 119

Some of the best 'unjoyful' music written. Highly recommended.

Broadly speaking I would say that it is in a similiar vein (if perhaps more fusion jazz) as the middle of the Casiopea back catalouge if that makes sense? I have to confess that I haven't listened to any Casiopea for years, in fact I think I threw all my technics chrome tapes of Casiopea in the trash!

A limited-edition box set almost all of Casiopea's Albums called "Legend of Casiopea" has been released on May 27, 2009 in Japan. It features 2 Albums that were never released as a CD, the first of which is called "Cuts", and the 2nd of which is called "Air-Skip".
