Just caught up watching Luther from BBC1 last night - liked the Titles music so thought I would give this another spin.

I am still not really captivated by it.

Thank you, Voltaire, for this comment !!!

I feel the same. Being a PM "fan" and concert goer, I just fail ti understand what this is about. Other than a nice experiment. If you see the video, it looks and sounds appealing. Listening to the CD is - uhm - like a wax museum ? Or like thee recordings where they play old paper rolls that move The piano keys ? Whatever… This whole Orchestrion thing Is nothing compared to real musicians that understand their job.

Adrian ?

I fully appreciate the technical boundries that PM is exploring and I like the resulting music but the sound just seems so dead to me, dynamically flatlined. Having read a few interviews with PM I suspect that is the sound he was going for or have I missed the point?

The concert I saw of this was fine but I was not wowed by it. I missed all the humans of a band and am looking forward to seeing him with the Pat metheny Group in July - I think that will be a much better experience. The Orchestrion is good 3 star stuff but not 5 star.

I am playing side 4 of 80/81 right now during half time of the football. What classic music and what a line up.

Drowning in 80/81, myself. Sorry, if I can't keep the pace of some posters, here, that manage to listen to (full ?) 20 CD's an evening. I prefer to enjoy Winker

Have fun with 2nd half of football, Adrian.

Cheers
Stefan
