one of the (few) reasons to prefer the black and larger discs… Most of the mail orders I get come with one or more lost teeth. After ripping them into iTunes and shelving the original CD, it's all forgotten. one of The (few) reasons to prefer stored playback. Winker

cheers

First listen. Trying to set aside my irritation as the small plastic prongs that hold the CD in its case are all broken - grrr!

I hate when that happens but mine did not come as a digipak, should just be a matter of replacing the tray?

Sunday evening is the exact right time for this. Jasmine is not "spectacular" in any way, but extremely likable (to me). Feels very much like home- I am warming up with this recording.

You absolutely have to ! The Etudes Tableaux on this one are to melt away. And (classical experts: don't read on !) hearing Helene breathing - especially when she plays the piano concert - is absolutely breath taking. I saw her once in concert, and have decided that her (loud) breathing is an important part of the complete performance. A bit like Jarrett's singing…

Not liking this as much as some of his earlier LPs.

That seems to be a theme for anyone that has tried - just ask Denis.

Playing the Grimaud Etudes Tableaux from the "Brilliant" label 6 CD Sampler (which is indeed brilliant, BTW - I think they bought the material cheap from Denon). Not so much breathing (cough…) but excellent playing.

(Pic doesn't match, but you get the idea…)

A number of people have voiced this opinion, but "anyone" should be changed to "some" or "many", a little less all-inclusive.

I love the Battle Studies album, though I would say it falls slightly short of the near-perfection of "Continuum".

JM is a goober and because of easy boredom apparently feels it fun to spar with the media, but the man can write and play like very few others IMHO, even when not spot on target.

I had to post this reply as his most vociferous promoter has been removed. Playing next.

On Spotify now.
Embarrassingly I fine I have Blue Lines album and Angel single, and the boy has "Collected".

Another CRAFT moment, or several. Smile

So is this the "Trip Hop" of what you speak?

Yes, its a play on Hip Hop and is just a slower more soulful or "trippy" version of Hip Hop so bands like Portishead, Pressure Drop, Nightmares On Wax, Lamb, Tricky are considered Trip Hop.

This is twisted, squelchy, clean, mean beat Techno at its best.

Yes I do but it is very "easy". Nothing too challenging but it is a nice atmosphere album at this time of night.

I like Jason Rebello on piano particularly - one of the first jazz artists I really liked back in the early 90's.

Single digits (C) afternoon keeps me indoors.

I was lucky to hop on the bike just between two cloud mountains, but in general, there was "music weather", here too. Had a pile of arrivals (or borrows) so it wasn't all bad. Star of the weekend were the Schubert discs that you and Doug recommended.

cheers

Stefan,

I managed earlier to stretch my legs along the river, nothing like a Ride of the Valkyries of a bike meister like yours. However, afternoon plans with the D200 cancelled due to the coldness and darkness outside. The star of the weekend here (again) was Sofronitsky banging his Scriabin. Have a good week,

Haim
