Ah yes, I have had a few of those. Trying to show my Dad what I like and it backfiring. Anyway, he did sleep though the second half of Andy Sheppard at Ronnie Scotts Birmingham in the early 90's (well it did kick off at 1 in the morning) and taking him to Herbie Hancock Headhunters in Sydney a few years ago was a big mistake for all of us - we escaped to a local restaurant at the interval. However, there have been some successes!

I asked myself the same question as I had just picked up a Japanese mini Lp version last year, however, I just can't pass up a MoFi. Big Grin

I would say it is another very nice MCC elpee and worth adding to any record collection, I'll need to listen a few times before I can rank it. I didn't immediately think this supplants Come On Come On as my favourite Chapin album nor that it's my favourite elpee of the year, which is probably Delicate by M&TM or Erland & the Carnival by E&TC or Heart of My Own by Ms Bulat or Resignation Speech (Liberal Mix) by Gordon Brown.

However, playing The Age of Miracles for the second time, it is definitely a grower, as is the Midlake elpee you recommended to me (good choice).

So a must for every Chapin fan, but not necessarily the place to start if you're new to Chapin's music. However the track Mrs. Hemingway is superb.

I would say it is lost by now. I thought it outstanding when I played it yesterday.

Adrian,

You are much more forgiving than me and probably have more energy to further explore works after a disappointing experience. I feel guilty giving up on good musician (like Jarrett to whom I hardly listen anymore) so guys like Zorn don't get a second chance from me.

Haim, I encourage you to listen to the new Jarrett/Haden CD. Simple, charming and rather lovely. Out on the 25th in the US. I understand your views and stance on Zorn!

Cheers
