Not in my case, Doug. Finding difficult to relax with the busy music for four hands and I keep getting the urge to call the crowd control police. I rarely listen to this Tharaud disc.
My favorite piano for four hands which I highly recommend is:

Let me know what you think of Safronitsky when you get his music.

Doug,

To be fair, I was just asking about them. I will not make a move till your final words on their performance (versus Beaux Arts).

Haim, the Piano Trios are a life's work and passion for me. I can only thank you for bringing the Guarneri Trio Prague recordings to my attention. I like them very much and will be looking for their other recordings (Schubert Trios to start).

If you are only going to get one set and it is between the Guarneri Trio and Beaux Arts, I would probably steer you towards the Guarneri Trio.

The Beaux Arts is still a very strong set. The Guarneri recordings have an edge for me in that they are very nicely recorded; like you are in the best seat in the house. Having a pleasing, top quality sound does help make the ensemble playing very clear and engaging. With this set you are also getting the Clarinet version of the Op. 11 and Op. 38 trios. The sound of the piano and strings is very realistic. Because of this I can hear lines / parts that I miss in other recordings.

Both ensembles have a different character which makes it interesting. If you are familiar with this music what you would probably notice first about the Guarneri is the very brisk tempos they choose. Despite this, their is some very nice music making here.

Yes, I do like the Guarneri Trio Prague!

Regards,
Doug

The new Jackson Browne album 'Love Is Strange'.

It is pleasing to see that when loading to my ipod, the 'intro' tracks can be deleted.

A great listen, especially disc 2. Check out track 5 'Tu Tranquilo'.

Concerts of Fourplay in Europe are not (yet) announced Frown . You can check their agenda in www.fourplayjazz.com/calendar.html. I was hoping they would perform at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdan/Holland. Perhaps a good reason to visit NY...

All the three E.S.T. albums are brilliant. Very consistent level of musicianship. I cannot decide which one I like the best as they are all so good. Will have to break my bank account or max out my credit card (whichever comes first) to get the rest!

try this one as well

Also look at Good Morning Susie Soho, Strange Place for Snow, Tuesday Wonderland and then you can look at some of their earlier releases such as the Monk album. The final album they did - Viaticum is one of their more challenging.

On CD:-

NAIM is really necessary to have the huge length of silence in track 9? It's hardly a secret track as it's credited in the packaging, as track 10!

It is worth waiting for though.
