Although the 1955 mono recording is disappointingly thin in places, voices come through well and this must still be one of the best Aida's out there.

This arrived yesterday but I was too busy seeing the premier of the DVD of a show by one of Mr Wilson's other beat combos to listen to it last night.

Why? From the Tzadik Website:
Sajjanu is a ripping new unit from Tokyo that performs incredibly complex through-composed compositions with few if any repetition. Performed with an intensity and power that is absolutely staggering, this trio of two guitars and drums sounds like a full orchestra and is one of the most exciting young bands in Japan today. Combining the intensity of the Ruins with the quirkiness of the Boredoms and the compositional integrity of Zappa, Zorn and more, Sajjanu is creating a new Japanese music of infinite possibilities.

Is the vinyl version any better? It seems to cost a bomb!

I do not know Irwan for exactly the reason you suggest, its an expensive gamble.

Oooh---if they're only half as tasty as the review makes them sound, they're worth a listen. I'm interested!
