It's been a long week. I have played Communique at least 10 times this week - their best IMHO. Bringing back the old days...

Now my personal favourite, on vinyl:-
I must get a better copy though,it seems to have suffered since '82.

Recently heard this double album at a friends place. (thanks J.N.) Superbly recorded and not a duff track in sight. Each of the twelve tracks on 'Water In The Ground' has a different feel yet the album gels together as a whole very nicely.
The material on the other title, 'Dark Dream Midnight' also sounds excellent which makes this two cd package great value. I think we'll be hearing much more of Catherine MacLellan.

Klemperer and the Philharmonia [London] playing one dozen Haydn Symphonies [1960-1973], during which time Klemperer went from being a great conductor to a passe doyen. Only his last recording session shows a concession to old age - in the 95th Symphony!
The greatest Haydn recorded performances on record, IMHO.
This is life enhancing music making ...

12 Etudes Op.10 & 12 Etudes Op.25

Earlier:
Frédéric Chopin: Maria-Joao Pires (Piano)
Concerto for Piano no 2 in F minor, B 43/Op. 21, Conductor: André Previn, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Preludes (24) for Piano, Op. 28
Maria-Joao Pires is one of my favorite pianists. Their are many recordings that are great but she most closely matches for me how I like Chopin played. Listen closely and you find she is doing amazing things with the music but it is so natural that you may not initially realize it. Very subtle; poetic when needed and passionate when needed but never ostentatious.
Haim, how did the Beethoven Piano Trios go over?

Haim,
That is in my rack just before the band I am playing now (see the Home Theatre threads) - but I will join you on this one for some late night listening.
Regards, Mark
(Isn't it wonderful that we can go from one genre to another and still fully appreciate it?).

It's only you and me that ever post PM Dawn. Great band, IMO. Lovely just to chill out to, such a relaxing voice.

Doug,
I think that they are outstanding. I play at least one of their five discs per day so I am averaging a cycle a week.
I am also enjoying a lot the double album of Pires playing late Chopin works. Do you have her Nocturnes disc?
Regards,
Haim

Forget all their later "poppy" stuff, this along with "Organisation" and "Architecture & Morality", was really great stuff.

Mark,
My genres usually change according to my wife's moods but basically remain within the triangle of classical, jazz and world music.
My actual genre now is:
