The famous Keilberth stereo Ring that Decca never issued. I acquired the individual opera (CD) sets as Testament issued them one at a time, in beautiful cap boxes with full texts. Still glad I did - an amazing experience in glorious sound.

Calexico - Garden Ruin

An eclectic mix of musical styles. Rock, Mexican, French and Irish to name a few.
Don’t appear to be well known in the UK.

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Before Today

After reading the highly favourable review of this album on pitchfork, and still having no idea what this fellow/band/album would sound like, my curiosity was piqued. The review made it sound edgy and unpredictable.

First listen today -- very disappointing. Regurgitation dressed up as reinvention. Nay, this emperor's wearing no clothes.

But this is why I don't sample music on Spotify (or similar) before buying--I learnt way back in my teens not to trust my initial impressions with music. Far too many of my favourite albums would have been dismissed after first listening had I not persisted.

So I'll give this 'un a week in the car, on the ipod and a spin or two at home. We'll see.
