Debs

I love Glass (and particularly Low). Went to see the Violin Concerto performed by Slatkin, Gidon Kremer and (I think) the LPO. It was great though I have never seen an orchestra so bored out of their skulls - all the string section just sawing backwards and forwards on auto-pilot :-)

You mean that there are also 'nutters' on the roads in Surrey and on the Autobahn too?

They are everywhere. Roll Eyes

You know the old joke:
Radio: "We have a warning of a driver going in the wrong direction on the motorway."
Driver:"What do you mean one, there are hundreds."

There's a series of 'public improvement films' that should help matters on the road, if followed carefully:

Nice one munch. On the black stuff I presume?
I dont have it on the black stuff.
I have a top cd of it though.
Sounds great through the N/DAC. Smile

I ripped my DVD-A disc. That also sounds great on the DAC although 'Kamakiriad' and 'Morph The Cat' sound better still as they are higher resolution

Even better than vinyl?

On CD:-

Really enjoying this (up to track 4). It has a bluesy feel, a live type vibe.
Although a studio album very few overdubs and re-takes were used, it's better for that I reckon.

This Full Works edition cd from classic fm has Gidon Kremer on violin for the concerto, with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Christoph von Dohnanyi conducts.

The Low symph is by the Brooklyn Philharmonic with Dennis Russell Davis, which sounds really fantastic musically.
The quality of recordings are very agreeable too, which is imo essential with Glass.

I can understand what you mean about those violinists getting bored with the minimalist style. But it's funny how it seems to work so well as exciting music, i suppose the complete picture is worth more than the sum of it's parts : )
