There are two miniature tabla's in the box set!

A wonderful birthday gift from a colleague a couple of years ago.

Just finished disc 1. Now on to disc 2!

Still in a mood for things eclectic:

Dug out Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun from the CD collection.

This goes on after Zakir Hussain.

There are two things that sound really alive on the Supernait: First, Charlie Haden's double bass, and second, Zakir Hussain's tablas. Just like having them in one's living room. Now what if I only had that 500 series combo ... hmmm?

EJ,

Yes, very much so. I never heard of Jean Barriere before Huw had recommended this disc and I play it quite often these days:

I just received three days ago David Fray's Moments Musicaux:

I hope that you found time to listen to music with all the soccer games of the day.

Haim,
How did you like the David Fray Schubert? I like both Helmchen and Fray even though they are both very different players. I really like Helmchen in Schubert and especially the three minor key pieces in Moments musicaux. On the other hand, Fray is more romantic and individual and I really like the three major key pieces in Moments musicaux. The reason is he takes his time with them and plays them quite a bit slower.

I'm squeezing a little football in but my ears/soul still needs nourishment. Even if I don't always have time to sit down exclusively to listen to music I usually have something playing in my head.

Gabriel Fauré: Jean-Philippe Collard (Piano) - Nocturnes and Barcarolles today

Haim, do you have any of Fauré's piano music? I think you would really like some of the Nocturnes - especially the earlier ones. Although, different from Chopin's, I think you might really like at least the earlier ones. The later ones are more sparse and remind me more of later Liszt.

I like them so much that I recently ordered a few other recordings played by Germaine Thyssens-Valentin, Sally Pinkas, Charles Owen. Eventually I'll pick up several others that are recommended. If you're interested stay tuned in a couple of weeks....
