Another superb Beethoven Piano Concerto from the Proms last night on BBC Four. The Paul Lewis series is turning into something rather special.
Now playing the 4th on iPhone/etymotics, most enjoyable.

Playing this outstanding album one more time. You can feel Lou Reed's touch.

Just picked this up at the mall last night.

On the list for best 2010 release:
An angelic voice singing the folk songs of aborigine Australia. Just acoustic guitars, double bass and back-up singers. A great example that less is more. Makes the hair on the back of neck stand at times due to the sheer beauty of the singing.

I fully agree with you on this wonderful album, but it was originally released in 2008. It is now being re-released in a few countries.

Oliver: Too bad. This would have gone straight to the top of the list for 2010 releases.

Haim,
The Schmelzer album is also highly recommended! And if you like that, you also should hear Helene Schmitt in the Bach partitas and sonatas, also on Alpha.
EJ
Thanks, EJ. I guess that Schmitt is going to join my waiting (to be ordered) list as well.

Great shame I can't get Spotify here in NZ. I did however listen to excerpts on Amazon. I'm not sure why, but even after I do that I quite often get it wrong. Maybe they just play the best bit's of the songs
