Jolivet's violin concerto stems from 1972, and therefore qualifies as the most recent music work in my CD library Winker

First listen - great CD of a composer/work otherwise unknown to me. The work is paired with Chausson's Poème in an absolutely ideal performance by Isabelle Faust and co.

Huw,

While you are at it, may I recommend also the new Delphine Bardin's disc of Faure's Barcarolles on Alpha and Sudbin's Scriabin on BIS. Both exceptional in my view.

Regards,

Haim

A great place to start Jeff. The material may be old but the delivery is fresh.

That's the way to go, Huw. Now you can get yourself busy with the bike and the camera.

Well, I couldn't find the Kit Downes Trio CD, so I picked up this instead:

And this:

Both sound rather good.

Don't know the Mark Wingfield album although I used to see a lot of Jeremy Stacey years ago on the London concert circuit.

Now first listen of this new album from Phronesis picking up good reviews and I like what I am hearing

Seeing Ballamy's name on the cover made me buy the Wingfield CD.

I looked for the Phronesis album too but Record Collector didn't have it - they're good for secondhand stuff, but coverage of new releases is patchy.

I've not seen it in any shop yet and even Amazon did not have it on release date and HMV online did not even list it. It is now there on Amazon or from Edition Records.
