An official live recording of Ocean Colour Scene's 2006 Birmingham gig.

If you don't own this IMHO you must give this a listen. It's a little like modern Bossa Nova but more immediate & funky. Some great guest vocals from Terry Callier & Carolyn Leonhart (who was apparently a well known backing singer with Steely Dan)Honestly this is well worth sampling.

Soopasoul - Twin Stix.
Second CD delivered to the letterbox today by Amazon.
This is the debut album from Danny Hybrid (no I hadn't heard of him either) Unlike lot's of other dance music this is an album where a band played everything live. Including drums, bass, guitar, sax, trumpets, flute & flugelhorn.
It has & I quote "soul-sista vocals", "infectious brass hooks" & "hip swaying jazzy grooves". A great party album & something KeanoKing might enjoy. It's wonderful.
Cheers

I occasionally try 'David Live', but I just don't like the arrangements on that tour, too 'cabaret Bowie'. Really looking forward to getting a good recording of the '76 tour from the 'Station to Station' re-release this Autumn, that is a rock band playing, and playing very well.

Adrian,
I am so glad that I got this music. I play it almost every evening.
Glad to hear you like it Haim. It is a lovely album and perfect relaxing night time music. I just love the slow mellow pace of it and Paolo's "Italian" trumpet tone.

Overall if you like his stuff you will probably enjoy it. As I do not have a lot of his back catalogue, I would welcome any suggestions of what else to get. I will probably pick up a copy of his autobiography at the same time. His life sounds pretty interesting, and on stage he came across as someone I would like to find out more about.
Regards
Nic
Early work as part of PiL is good and I have just transfered the 12" single "How Much Are They" into iTunes.
Most of the early stuff is probably only in the black stuff.
Jono
Jono,
Thanks. I've got my original copy of Metal Box on vinyl and PIL's greatest hits on CD, I was thinking more of his prodigious output as a solo artist, any thoughts?.
Regards
Nic
Nic,
Much to my shame "How much are they" is my sole Wobble disk. Like you I keep meaning to get more but have yet to do so.

Here you go guys a couple of suggestions...

These two are recent releases that I find excellent especially MU, Jah Wobble likes to take you on a mini spiritual journey with his lyrics which is a nice change from general lyrics of other artists, and of course the basslines are fantastic as well.

Dean,
Thanks for those. I also meant to add that there is a concert on NPR of PiL which I have downloaded but heard yet.
Currently enjoying The XX live on NPR All Songs Considered...
