Good one Big H, have you heard the 'Redux' version, the production is a little bit more raw and brings out new life to the album.

Red House Painters (Mark Kozelek) 'Old Ramon' I never tire of this album, one of my very favourites, by one of my favourite song writers.

No vinyl for a few days whilst my TT is away being serviced, so back to CD...

I'm giving this one another shot tonight. I can't seem to connect with this one like I do with their earlier efforts, but here goes.

Bought this at the weekend and haven't stopped listening to it since. They were so much better live than recorded.

One of those albums that just makes you go "wow!" the first time you hear it.

Almost the same cover but slightly different music. I am now playing the John Holloway though.

I've had these MoFi vinyls for a little while and have never understood the fuss and premium that the label attracts. Until Tonight.

Just had a Michell Technoarm put onto my Thorens and suddenly they're sounding great. Background is so much quieter, better seperation, bass is excellent and cymbals really zing. Vocals in particular are much more realistic too.

Just a shame about the cost! Quite fancy some Sinatra and Tigerlily, but they may have to wait a while.

Might try my Flatcap on my stageline tomorrow to see how that goes!

Oops, this was the other MoFi record

A bit of Improv from these two.

Kieran Hebden & Steve Reid

Double Vinyl, 4th side etched.

Thats the problem with great sound you need the right equipment to really "get it" and many people don't want to put in the time or expense to achieve it so it stays expensive, shame really. Putting a Ekos2 on my LP12 made Keith Jarrett's playing on the Koln concerts album go from this is strange to fully intelligible, now that was a WOW moment for me. Glad the TechnoArm is doing it for you, I do like a bit of Techno you may have noticed Smile.

Played several nights running, lovely record for this time of the evening. Definitely a late night disc.

Very mixed feedback on last year's tour. Have a look through the 'gigs you have seen' thread. Newcastle (I think) got good reviews, but the Leeds show was appalling.

'April' is probably my favourite of Mark Kozelek's albums, but 'Old Ramon' when he fronted The Red House Painters is a very close second. Hope you enjoy 'April'

Domino Records? I have about 5 albums with one side etched most from Domino Records and Massive Attacks - 100th Window album buts thats triple vinyl. I like it rather than squeeze the album on to one slab you get it on a double, so better quality sound and a pretty picture NICE!
