I am a relative newbie when it comes to this artist and so during a BBQ in London today ( with my mostly Auzzie friends) they almost all suggested that this album was the greatest record ever made...I wasn't sure...but I am prepared to consider the idea as I listen now.

Debs,

How is it?

I just have seven minutes of a jazz adaption of the intermezzo of Cavalleria Rustica played on a solo piano by Danilo Rea which I cannot stop from listening to.

(track #3).

Haim
Hello Haim,

this old LP set was giving to me free possibly due to some pre-played wear, but the slight surface noise and occasional pip and pop becomes irrelevant as the music comes though with depth and spirit. To my mind this is a little too frantic in places but made capable by warming chorus work and fine female vocals. The men are a bit blustery… but let’s suppose this is necessary in Italian opera?
Here and there the orchestrated work is very smooth with beautiful melodic charm, but overall the feel is charged and energetic.
This is nicely set over 3 lp sides so i may leave the other 3 sides of, Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci to another evening.

Had a listen to the (track #3) sample of Danilo Rea ~ very relaxed interpretation, i'm about to sit down to lunch so wish i could play it all right now! : )

best regards
