Now I've really never been a Dire Straits fan, but remember having this in my younger days. Picked this up cheap and it's good.
I saw them several times on this tour. Good stuff. Think I'll get my snap, crackle and pop version out and play it.

In my top 10 albums of all time, which sounds fantastic on the normal CD. Is it worth going the extra mile?

As I said, a slippery slope. Not always IMHO. There is one on ebay for £338 so I change my opinion from Not Always to No.

For me it is, but there are so many great sounding MoFi's that you can still get at a reasonable price, this one usually demands a premium. That being said, you can find a few copies for $55 on amazon US right now, they don't always ship International.

Mark - good choice. After one disc of that Stravinsky I need a change and will join you. Something a bit more Saturday morning.

I thought Kazzy would like this, but sadly not. She thinks it is all jumbled up musicians - your thoughts? (She did guess the songs though).

It is not so easy to like and I can understand the comments. Best to see live first and then easier to appreciate after. She might prefer some E.S.T.

"Princes Familiar" & "I Was Hoping" are just beautiful.

I will not profess to be an expert on this subject and as it only arrived a few hours ago I have not really listened properly.
What I will say is that it has been very well received in the critical press and John Eliot Gardiner is a renowned Bach interpreter. The Sunday Times placed it in it's list of the best classical albums of 2009. It seems a pretty safe bet you will be investing wisely in this recording. Nice little package as well.
