A lot of his music is attention grabbing crap but every now and then he forgets himself and records something quite good. The secret is to seperate the wheat from the chaff.
That makes sense to me.

What do you think Jeff?
The samples sound very nice. I've just ordered my copy from the USA.
George.
Hi George,
I like it. A very cohesive band sound with Ray's vocals, as opposed to previously Ray's voice with what ever the producer played and arranged (and I am an Ethan Johns fan).
Ray has matured greatly in the last 5 years and this shows that self-confidence and comfort with what he is doing. I have them all, this quite possibly is the best.
best regards

Personally George I have had a promo of this for a few weeks now and love it. I think it is his best but Jeff might think different.

11 perfect pop songs...
If you don't have it, you may want to look into "Broken Bells", a recent release with James Mercer (Shins) and Danger Mouse. It is very tasty and James vocal work is terrific.

An unusual pairing of Italian and French composers which works very well here with Gustav Leonhardt's harpsichord.

Adrian,
Since purchased, this music did not leave our coffee table because it is being played so often.
Have a good weekend,
Haim
I was really getting into this CD the other night, wondering why there aren't more guitar/trumpet duet CDs, when it can work as well as this.
Regards
Nigel
Interesting observation, Nigel, and I have no explanation for it. Perhaps Manfred Eicher should encourage more of his ECM musicians to pursuit such a successful outcome. I would love see a disc of Rava and Brahem playing together.

I kind of OD'd on The Shins about a year ago, so I ignored the Broken Bells CD when it came out, but now that I've reconnected with James Mercer's Merry Men, I've added it to my wishlist.
