Antony And The Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now. Bought this for the Mrs but I quite like it.

A favourite CD from one of the great american singers, produced by a visionary guitarist.
Here is Daryl Hall feat. Monte Montgomery performing North Star, livefromdarylshouse.

minimal instrumentation and production, recorded in mono with a 55 year-old Ampex tape deck and a single vintage microphone. sublime.
I personally think that this is his best for sometime and I am a big Mellencamp fan.
Aptly titled, then. I was pleased T-Bone knew to choose a lighter production touch and just let JM shine.
best regards

Sufjan Stevens - All delighted people
I'm guessing that Sufjan Stevens has been struggling under the weight of expectation after his acclaimed Illinoise, so it's a relief that he's producing again, even if he feels he has to relieve the pressure by producing an EP.
Thanks to Gary Shaw for the pointer

The perfect antidote if you're in need of a little tenderness.
Not restricted to the first month of the year only.

My favorite Ben Webster, great late night listening.

Nice. I'll join you. On vinyl.
No indication whether this is a special edition, but it comes with a 12 inch single of 'Writing to Reach You'. Bought it more than a decade ago.

After seeing your Ben Webster post, I went to look for this in my collection.

I have not been able to find it. I must have loaned it to someone and forgot all about it or screwed up in filing my albums which should be in its usual alphabetical order according to artiste. If the latter, it is going to take me ages to go through the entire collection looking for it. This is the first time that I've looked for that album since I shipped my stuff back to Malaysia in 2001.

Anyway, at least there is Travis playing now on vinyl.

Bach's well-tempered clavier... in easy listening edition as well as '80s hardcore harpsichord. Still looking for a harpsichord recording that captures a bit of the fun in this music.

Have you heard Isolde Ahlgrimm's 1954 recording of The Well-Tempered Clavier?
It's my favourite by far, a wonderful dynamic and vibrant feel even though it's mono enhanced for stereo from original mono recordings.
The book I & II is contained within a Philips 10 x LP box-set along with The Art of Fuge, Preludes BWV924-943 and six Partitas BWV 825-830 ~ all musikally great fun! [i know... i don't get out enough!]
Another version of Ahlgrimm's Art of Fuge is currently available on CD, this is merely 'very good' imho.
i'm not sure if anything else of her solo cembalo Bach works is available on CD (?)
...but it really should be ; )
best regards
Debs
Debs, I don't know her at all! Apart from the Art of the Fugue you mentioned, I haven't been able to find anything substantial by her on CD...
Currently listening to Staier's Goldberg variations. Interesting instrument, and wonderful presentation - I'd love to hear Book I of the well tempered clavier performed in a similar manner!
Cheers,
EJ

Was posted here a few times, new to me as well. Here is the amazon write up:
This cd contains amazingly beautiful songs from a relatively new group. Airbag can easily be described as a progressive rock band; and, if you like Porcupine Tree, Frost, RPWL, and others like them -- you will love this cd. I cannot stop listening to these songs. Currently, Colours is my fave and often set my mp3 player to repeat and listen to it over and over and over. Airbag's melodies, arrangements, and lush layers of keyboards, guitars, and bass are magical. Awesome! If you love prog...you will love this band/cd.

This one is really growing on me but you would have to be fluent in German.
