Yes save the good stuff for when the 250 is burnt in/warmed up! Smile Winker

Absolutely, a little Gabriel could sound great when warmed through

This one seems to be popular here. It's good to be in good company. Smile

Looks like I'm going to have to give this a try. I keep seeing it on here.

I agree. It's on my list of "Albums of 2010". Like I said in an ealier post, I was skeptical about a "covers" album, but PG really steps up and owns these songs. The way he arranged and performed "Book of Love" makes the song his.

I was listening to his version of "Boy in a Bubble" a few months ago and thought how much the lyrics are more meaningful today than in 1986.

"....lasers in the jungle...."

Ballan, good to have you round here Smile I think Gabriel is superb and he takes these songs to new levels as well as his own musical journey.

BigH and I have a little game over this album as he does not like it, but hopefully he will get to one day. We both went to same Gabriel covers concert earlier this year. I thought it was a great move forward and in concert the whole thing went to another level. With a second set of orchestral versions of his own songs, it was so good I went back for more the next night. I look forward to his new album early next year of recordings of his own songs.

As for John Grant, I have been posting it non-stop and telling as many as I can about it as I think it is by some distance the best thing I have heard in quite a while. Just google John Grant Reviews and you'll read lots of very positive press for it.

Cheers

It's good to be here. I've been lurking here for years, and finally decided to sign up and participate. This forum is one of the most diverse groups of music listeners that I've found, and since I've been a long time Naim owner, it's a good fix for my "hifi" adventures.

I don't have a lot of friends that are into music, so this forum let's me discover new music, and learn more about ways to make it sound best. Hope to continue the adventure with you guys and thank you for your patience as I learn how to use the forum.

This is his best album of the three. His latest, Third Round, has its moments - but treads uncomfortably into pop IMHO.

I liked it at first, but as you say....a little sickly sweet after a while.
