I tried to buy a ticket for my local show yesterday but it has just sold out. Should have acted earlier. Oh well.

I do think the new album is very good.

Another Jazz 625 from the beeb, a 1964 recording of the Modern Jazz Quartet, nice!

Apart from Steve Race's snide remarks about modern youth and guitars ,(electric). Basically saying anyone who can learn 3 chords and form a group and degrade the guitar, then he introduced a Brazilian guitarist, notice he says afterwards no picks or plectrums there.
It was interesting to note that almost all the males in the audience worn shirt, tie and jackets.

Sorry you missed out. My thanks for your willingness to check her music and then finding something to like there. She is probably destined for an indie musicians life of touring and recording but seems to have been able to find a very happy place within the music industry as it currently exists.

Remind me when your Paul Lewis show is, Adrian.

Jeff - I am not seeing Paul Lewis - I am seeing Pollini which will get Mike far more excited! That is March 1st so not long now.

I have two other Laura Veirs albums which I bought when they came out - Saltbreakers and Year of Meteors. They never really grabbed me at the time but I think her new album will be my way in and suddenly I will be playing and enjoying the older stuff.

Will check around for a Laura ticket nearer the time just in case one comes up for sale.

Cheers

Sorry, I had that wrong. But then they all pretty much sound the same to me - no, just kidding. I hope the Pollini is enjoyable and indicative of numerous peoples high regard for him.

Probably pretty close to the truth there Jeff Smile but I look forward to seeing the legend in his own lifetime. He'll be playing Chopin.

A band from my youth. They gave me a liking for the electric violin and had the advantage of the presence of the delightful Sonja Kristina...
