Oliver,

I was inspired by watching the film again. For me, it is by far the best Western I have ever watched.

Yup, definitely maybe The XX.

This year, I only have The XX (I don't know the Kit Downes, or Oliver's I Am Kloot at all). The only others I've even heard are Laura Marling, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Wild Beasts.

This time last year, I'd bought about four of them and had heard all bar a couple of the rest. I must be getting old. : )

Some time ago Universal re-issued Stephen Kovacevich' Beethoven and Brahms recordings for the Philips label in two beautiful boxes. Recording quality is not consistent and overall not very good... but the interpretations are magnificent.

From HDX:

Got this album only a couple of weeks ago and must say I really like it. Lots of songs from their early years...

Blimey my missus would run a mile if I put on RT while she's in the same room, though to be fair she does like one or two of Richard & Linda's.

"Don't talk to me about naval tradition. It's nothing but rum, sodomy, and the lash."

No collection is complete without it.

Here is the original by Gericault - hanging in the Louvre.
