I love it when people I've never heard of have greatest or golden Hits. Smile

I think he just picked an unfortunate title for the album Smile
Even though in his defense he had been the lead vocalist for The Stone Roses before pursuing a solo career Smile

Hi Ballan

I hadn't seen this Gus Gus album before, is it much more mellow than 'Forever'. Can it be bought on CD?

Having listened to a few of the samples, the band I would say to try would be some of Underworld's music.
'Riverrun - I'm A Big Sister' which can only be downloaded from their website www.underworldlive.com It is very gentle.

Peach Tree - Underworld

You have to dig a bit in the music shop to find it, and you may have to register.

Their 'first' album, well first after the band changed to a dance trio 'Dunnobasswithmyheadman' is very laid back, a bit of a cross between indie and techno.

Dark and Long - Underworld

Also their later album 'A Hundred Days Off' is quit quiet. The last track on Gus Gus 'Attention' reminds me of that album.
Ballet lane - Underworld

Orbital 'In Sides' and the two 'Leftfield' albums might be in similar territory.

Ah I've heard of them.

Now on Spotify:-

I wouldn't want to be completist with this guy. Smile

80 odd albums and 30+ compilations. Not sure they are all odd albums though.

@JamieL_v2: Thanks for the recommendations!

Yes, I have "Gus Gus vs. T-World" on CD. It was released in 2000.

I have a few Underworld albums, including the one I'm listening to now and posted after reading your post.

"Beaucoup Fish"
"1992-2002"
"Oblivion Bells"

I also have on my future wish list their/his new album coming out soon. I don't remember the name now. I have not listened to the ones you recommend, but I'll give it a spin (or should I say stream?). Winker

Thanks again for the information and recommendations.

Gordon (Voltaire) got me started on it - fantastic recording. CD is maybe slightly compressed but it's not too bad, just have to turn it down a little.

Third (and final) installment of my Werther miniseries. This crew surely never did anything better! Davis is on fire. Carreras, who by 1980 still sounded magnificent, sings a Werther who is an emotional wreck and at the same time makes it completely understandable why Charlotte loves him. He far surpasses all others I've heard in this role despite dodgy french. Von Stade is ravishing, a good match for him in terms of performance and voice. Supporting cast is comprised of the best British singers of the day. Not just a good Werther then, but one of the best opera recordings...in the world.
