Nice album. "The Rip" is one of my favorite songs from the album.

Going through the cycle of the four first discs. I never bothered with the fifth one which is piano music composed for ballet.

My Jobim of the night with Fred Hersch whom I saw live two months ago, thin as a paper after his illness but still maintaining his magical play.

"..Then, in 2008, Hersch was beset with AIDS-related dementia and, after bouts with hallucinations and paranoia, fell into a two-month long coma. His ordeal involved dialysis, a tracheotomy, and the loss of almost all motor functions. That he survived was amazing; that he regained enough strength and will to re-teach himself how to play the piano was a testimonial to his dogged determination; that he resumed recording and has since released a live Pocket Orchestra CD, an album of Antonia Carlos Jobim tunes, and now, Whirl, with more major works in process, is almost unfathomable."

Highly recommended.

This looks cool. Love this label. Visited Sounds of the Universe during my last biz trip to London. Bought lots. Missed this.

Backtracking tonight on previous posts - this caught my eye. Had not heard but dig the combo of players. Cheers Lontano! (and big up to Irwan Shaw for posing the question of what Paolo to pick next)
