Some great tracks with a few ropey ones thrown in for good measure.

Spotify hour for Mrs markah (who is feeling somewhat rather hungover this morning - glad I was tucked up in bed with man-flu at 9pm). Playing Spotify through MacBook Pro and a cable into the 552 - at last. Sounds fine too!

Dean Parrish - I'm On My Way. Does anyone else know this tune?

It's fascinating to compare this cycle with Lewis' recent one. Where Perahia scores over Lewis is the orchestral contribution. It's larger in scale, which is not necessarily a good thing, but there's this signature sound...

.

If you like Norma Waterson then this first collaboration with her daughter is highly recommended. I love the music of Eliza Carthy.

Love it, this was clearly a labour of love for the whole crew and the enthusiasm shines through. Even the recording is incredibly atmospheric although at the expense of the utimate clarity. The opera itself only releases its magic after 20 years of listening to it or so Smile Definitely one of the most difficult but rewarding operas to discover.
