First thing I grabbed from the shelves this morning, and now listening to it properly. There is something about Carreras' voice in the late seventies... breathtakingly beautiful.
Carreras made wrong career choices, and his voice was just a shade of its former glory by the time he was forty, years before he developed leukemia in the late 80s. At least he left a handful of great recordings, a vivid reminder of why he was ever considered one of the great tenors.

These Philips twofers are excellent - bought a whole lot of them when amazon had them on sale.

Yup, got them the same way. Great to expand a collection at low cost / low risk although I have to say the artwork is pretty uninspired, and whenever I find one I really like I'll remain on the lookout for different issues. For this particular recording, I've been looking for a first edition in pristine condition for some time, just to get hold of the original packaging. (Medicine didn't help)

Indeed, as minimalistic as they come.

Dean,
Let me know if you find something that is of reasonable quality. My cd is one of the worst transfers I have come across.

Hi Keith,
I will do, there are some modern re-issues on vinyl but I think they are from the SACD masters though should be good sound.
