Adrian, I saw you post this the day it came out (I think) and downloaded the first track from his website for free - is it typical of the whole album?
What do you think of it, and do you think I might like it?

It is very mellow, acoustic but interesting. No real Radiohead licks here. His vocals are good. I think as you like Kings of Convenience then this could be an album you like.
I like it for the right mood and it has picked up a stash of good reviews. Sounds nice on the system. And you can try out on spotify....

Hmmm, sounds very encouraging in your own words, but if anything, that review might have just put me off.
I've given up on Spotify lately, but I'll give it a go.
Thanks v much,

On Spotify, I'm really enjoying this album at present. Listening to the opening track "Factory" and Mercury Rev springs to mind..

Just released, and following last year's Histoire de Melody Nelson, another lovingly-done Serge re-issue from Light In the Attic Records:
Great stuff.
Gainsbourg et son Gainsborough...

Yep, great album that shows he wasn't a one album wonder, a nice evolution from that first album looking forward to more from The Field in the future.

Marion Verbruggen, recorder & flute
Tom Koopman, harpsichord & chest organ
Jaap Ter Linden, violoncello
Haim, that's a great lineup, playing music that has remained undeservedly obscure. Does the disc make good on its promise?
EJ
EJ,
The disc more than makes good on its promise in terms of playing and sound. I bought the disc because of Verbruggen but all three musicians here are outstanding.
Regards,
Haim
