I really like this. Very pretty piano playing, with just enough bite to keep it interesting.

First listen. A couple of days ago, I felt like browsing Amazon on the lookout for older albums which I never got around to checking out and took a leap of faith (well...)with this one and a few Pollini recordings I did not already have.
I greatly admire Pires and her instantly recognisable way of emphasizing the tune in everything she plays and creamy piano tone.

Lloyd's on my list, as I like what I've heard of it. I think I'll call it a day with Nik Bartsch unless you tell me the new CD is significantly different from his last two. The [em] live CD is a no brainer for me - one of the most forward thinking jazz acts out there right now.

Bartsch is not that different. Playing [em] live again and it is sounding great on the system - very nice recording.

Have to say, this is thrilling stuff! Pollini achieves an enormous sonority, partly by generous use of the pedal, and his technical command is still awe-inspiring. He is much less hard-driven than I expected from him in this music although still a master of timing. The recording is bit bass-heavy, another unusual characteristic for Pollini, but very clear (as in, I've seldom heard him vocalise along so clearly). Highly recommended!
