Is that the original CD or vinyl? Hopefully not the 'Rush Remaster'.
Joe
Hi Joe. I was warned here to avoid the remasters and this one is an American mercury pressing from back in the day, so i assume it has not been remastered. It sounds very good anyway.
Still waiting for delivery of Permanent Waves to see if I like them enough to further explore.
Cheers, Paul.
Paul,
Permanent Waves is great Paul. But when it comes to Rush, this is what you want.

Original WG Mercury if you can get one, MFSL if you are feeling flush.

LFDH - Eli "Paperboy" Reed and Alan Gorrie
In this episode Daryl and Eli collaborated on a set that includes a cover of Hall and Oates' "It's Uncanny," from their 1977 No Goodbyes "hits compilation" for Atlantic Records and legendary Philly street corner band The Volcanos' "Storm Warning," an H&O outtake originally intended for the 1990 album, Change of Season, now included on the recently released Sony Legacy box set, Do What You Want, Be What You Are.
As a special added attraction, Average White Band's Alan Gorrie sat in on bass, helping Daryl and Eli cover one of the group's biggest hits, "Pick Up the Pieces."
The performances also includes the Reed originals, "Take My Love With You," "I Found You Out," "Pick a Number" and "You Can Run On," Don Gardner and Dee Dee Ford's "I Need Your Loving Everyday," The Falcons featuring Wilson Pickett's "I Found a Love" and Chicago soul duo Mel and Tim's "Starting All Over Again," a song covered by Daryl and John for their 1990 Change of Season album.

Thanks Howard. I might have the beginning of a long term relationship now. I suddenly quite like my TT. I still hear noise but there is so much more music that I am less bothered.
LOL, traitor.

Had it on order since October.
On its first play.
Bet the neighbours enjoyed the bass on track one...
Been played hundreds of times here and in the car, great album.

Decided to have some noise in the place.
Still as fresh today, and I still wonder how much will come to pass..

Really a terrific band. Listened to them a lot as a kid. According to Wikipedia Sweetharts cafe in Kings Cross is now a McDonalds.

My favourite Steely Dan album, a band I owe many thanks to this forum for introducing me to them.
Re. Rush, I would say 'Permanent Waves' is easily their best album. I know a lot of people like 'Moving Pictures' a lot, I always found it a bit patchy. 'Hemispheres' has lasted very well for me, but that period of three albums was a real highlight of their career. All personal opinion of course.
Still a great live band, if you can mangage to hear them through the terrible live PAs they have.
As for remasters, I found my original Led Zeppelin IV CD mastered by Joe Sidore (the one Barry Diament did not do), it might make a duplicate, I must tidy up and see.
