Jeff,

Those two work so well together.
Will give it a listen over the weekend.
Going to try and get some kip now for a couple of hours.
Stu

Sleep well,Stu. I am still floating from their show last week. Was just over at amazon.com buying single tracks off the ep's of songs not on the full-lengths. Hoping to make a nice compilation disc.

best regards

Listened to this last night for the first time in ages - I am wondering why so long.

I liked it when it came out but haven't listened to it in a long while.

Portfolio of Ahmad Jamal
'58 Release. Argo Records. Original Limited Edition Mono pressing.
A great find at a local record store this week.
Live recording at the Spotlite Club in Washington, DC.
Jamal usually isn't my favourite piano player but there are many be-bop style numbers on this record and their tight trio performance keeps my interest. A great walking bass, too!

Now if I could find a Bird or Garner live album in this same pristine condition...

Mostly full of mind-expanding orchestral extravagance, Grantchester Meadows stands somewhat out of place on this album. But having lived many years in Cambridge, and punted a few times up to Grantchester with summer tea at the Orchard, that track is one of the best for me.
