IT Help Please!! Some hyper-links don't work!

Over the past week or so, I have noticed an increasing number of those blue-coloured hyper-links don't work. You know the things I mean? Where a retailer or advertiser has embeded a www.bbc.co.uk type of link into an e-mail.

It seems as if all the www.bbc.co.uk type of links don't function anymore. However, embedded links to e-mails eg Donald@atkinson.freeserve.co.uk (this is not my e-mail by the way) seem to work ok.

Does anybody know what the problem is and, more to the point, can anybody tell me how to fix it?

Many thanks in advance

Cheers

FWIW............the embedded www.bbc.co.uk links above actually do work!!!!

I first noticed the problem last week when "Which" invited me to take part in a survey. When I cliked on the embedded link.....nothing!

Then a couple of days ago I tried to register with Absolute Sounds (I have Wilson speakers that need some work doing). I registered, but the e-mail response form Absolute Sounds asked me to "activate" my account by "clicking" on a hyper-link that was about 100 characters long! - nothing!

I would be very grateful for any help.

Many thanks

You are talking about hyperlinks contained within emails it seems - try using Ctrl click for those.

If I have that wrong then no idea I'm afraid.

Have you got a "pop up" or "ad blocker" set?

Try a right click on the hyper-link and see if you get the options to open it.

Failing that, copy and post the address into your browser. I think the issue is likely to be some security settings you have or anti-virus software you are running.

Jim, BigH, Nap-ster and winky

Many thanks for your suggestions.

Ctrl click didn't do anything, i'm afraid. But thanks for the suggestion - certainly worth a try.

I do have "pop up"/"ad blocker" set. But they have been set for years without problem. Nevertheless, I will try un-setting them to see what happens. Hopefully, it will be worth a try.

The right click on the hyper-link opens a short list of options, some of which are not highlighted. There are no options (highlighted or not) to "open" the link. But thanks for the suggestion.

I have copied and posted the (Absolute Sounds) address into my browser (Internet Explorer) and it worked. Bit of a pain if I have to do this every time, I haven't tried it on any of the other failed hyperlinks yet, but nonehteless, thanks winky, it did get things moving today!!

Again, thanks to you all. The problem isn't fully resolved, so any further ideas would be welcomed. Meanwhile I shall keep "fumbling around" hoping that something "clicks"

Cheers

Upgrade from IE to Firefox - I have to use a Windoze PC for work - fortunately I'm able to replace IE with Firefox - you should find this will resolve your problems and give you a much better piece of software in to the bargain.
