removing cover on CD3.5

Posted by: Jeremy Roebuck on 06 September 2003

I’ve bought a second hand 3.5 and the previous owner has followed Russ Andrews advice and cut the mains lead off a couple of inches from the box and fitted an IEC socket so he could use a Russ Andrews power cable. I’m thinking of getting rid of this and fitting a captive cable again but how to get the lid off – there is 1 screw and 4 plastic rivets but the case doesn’t budge when these are removed

Help please

I think that you could also remove the 4 plastic containers of the rivets (I made this on my Nait3 to open it). Hope this will help.

I never quite understood how replacing a continuous cable with an extra mechanical connection was a good idea...

Well Paul you do get to have a fancy expensive looking cable, plus extra expensive looking connections, I think that has to make it worth while.

Sorry - that's 3 connections (screw terminals inside IEC male, screw terminals inside IEC female, plugging the two together).
Back on the subject, the rivet sockets sound familiar (I had to open my CD 3.5 to retrieve a puck a while ago).
