Can itunes store CDs at 44.1kHz 16bit or do they become compressed to MP3?

Hi all,

I am presently in the motion of saving all my CDs to my 1Tb hard drive and will be accessing all my music wirelessly soon.

I'll be going into the nDAC + 282 + 250.2 and I will be getting an iPod touch as remote (with the necessary air station).

Of course I will have to be using itunes, but will this compress my CD music? I am quite excited about using the nDAC for conversion as I can upgrade it with an XPS in the future.

Many thanks!

Jon

In itunes preferences there is ripping options, set it to ALAC.

Sadly in terms of you other thread I don't think HDX or Uniti understands ALAC, I have no idea why as the uniti has an iPod dock. seems really perverse.

I've ripped CD's to WAV file format in itunes just as easily also. -Stores in itunes in pure CD quality i.e 1411.2 kbps (44.1khz x 16bit x2ch = 1411.2kbps).

Tog as I understand it HDX and UNITI don't read AIFFs.
