Can a DVD Player store a DVD in it's memory?

The reason I ask is,the kids wanted to play on the XBox ,but no matter which input I tried through my AV Amp a DVD of Blade Runner was playing ,this is were it gets complicated the Blade Runner DVD was not in the DVD player in fact there wasn't a DVD in it, and it wasn't playing anywhere on any of the Sky channels any Ideas?
